Dispatch, by Bentley Little – book review pt 1

Titling this part one, as I’m only 75 pages in but like… Fuck, I’m 75 pages in. Something more should have happened.

General synopsis, a guy discovers he has influence/power when he writes letters.

Okay, typing that out now makes me feel silly for expecting something action-packed. My bad.

In the first 75 pages, we’ve gone through him coercing his elementary school pen pal, and getting free things, while in high school, for complaining.

I get character development. Back story. Got it. But… dude.

Maybe I was thinking of the wrong person, but I thought Bentley Little was like Stephen King but less drawn out. I clearly am wrong.

It’s a personal goal to read more. Hopefully at least a book a month, this upcoming year, grabbed this one, thinking I could polish it off in December still. For that reason, I’m going to try to stick with it. I am actually optimistic that it will speed up. Fingers fucking crossed.

Back with part 2 sometime.
