The Internet

We all are well aware now of how bad and damaging the Internet can be.

But man, sometimes I fucking love it.

I didn’t watch the Superbowl. I don’t care about football. Or commercials.

It’s just not my scene, never has been.

But now, thanks to the beautiful Internet, I know basically everything I need to, mostly through memes. And that fucking delights me so much.

I know Reba McEntire. I know shirtless Usher, roller skates, Luda and Alicia. I know Taylor’s boyfriend screaming. And I watched literally zero minutes.

In an age where things are so instant (noodles and news), does FOMO even exist anymore? You couldn’t go to that concert? Bummer, but like… everyone there was filming it so, you can still watch it, which I know is not the same but have you seen concert ticket prices recently?

I think memes are maybe the new Readers Digest, right? Let’s take 5 hours (is that how long the Superbowl is?) and let’s distill it down to… 20 solid memes and then let’s move on, because the world is big and fast and football doesn’t actually matter anyway.

I like that we so quickly can get the highlights of things that would be very time consuming.

The Internet is still sometimes really bad (and for porn – Avenue Q joke -) but I love how it can so quickly get me caught up to the crowd sometimes. I want to be able to have those conversations and the like… speed reading version offered by memes is just so good.

Internet, you’re sometimes awful, but I love you.
